Bridge at the EuroGames 2020

The Bridgeclub Düsseldorfer Bridge-Akademie provides the venue for the bridge tournament. The spacious tournament hall is most likely the auditorium of the former Comeniusgymnasium in Oberkassel, which is used by the club exclusively for organising bridge tournaments. The tournament hall has a capacity of 30 tables, i.e. 60 pairs.

The official tournament bridge rules of the World Bridge Federation (WBF) are applied. The system requirements for WBF tournaments of category 3 apply. These correspond to system category B of the DBV (Deutscher Bridge-Verband e.V.), i.e. high artificial systems (HUM) or Brown Sticker conventions are prohibited. The bridge competition will be held as an open pair tournament at the EuroGames 2020. The couples start in one class. There are no restrictions regarding playing strength, gender or age. After two rounds of qualification on the first day, the finals will be played in two groups on the second day, depending on the number of participants.

The playing time of the tournament is on both days (6. and 7.8.) from 12:30 to 19:00 o'clock. During this time two rounds will be played. The number of boards and the movement depends on the number of participants. The tournament is led by an official tournament leader of the DBV. The award ceremony will take place directly after the final rounds. Medals will be awarded for the first three pairs of each final group.
