Rugby at the eurogames 2020

Rugby is a popular sport in many countries, and has been an olympic discipline again since 2016. It is also becoming increasingly popular in Germany. Above all, rugby is a fast and body-focused - yet very fair - team sport for "all shapes and sizes". At the same time, rugby is an inclusive sport. The explicit goal of the world association is that everyone should be able to play rugby - regardless of nationality, ethnic origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disabilities, language, religion, political views or any other reasons.

The rugby tournament will take place at the facility of TuS 1895 Düsseldorf in Lörick. The adress is Oberlöricker Str. 7, 40547 Düsseldorf. The closest public transport station is "Am Seestern".

The rugby tournament will take place on Friday, August 7th. The exact tournament mode depends on the number of registered teams. If necessary, matches will take place on Thursday afternoon, August 6th.

All matches will be led by licensed and experienced rugby referees.

The competition is organized by the Düsseldorf Dragons and the Düsseldorf Dragonettes, the rugby department of TuS 1895 Düsseldorf.

In the men's tournament, XV-aside Rugby Union is played according to the World Rugby's Laws of the Game. In derivation from this, each game will be 2 x 20 minutes. In addition, the U-19 safety rules apply at scrums. Each team will play at least three matches.

In the women's tournament, Rugby 7s will be played according to the Laws of the Game of World Rugby. Each game lasts 2 x 7 minutes. Each team will pay at least three matches.

All players must be at least 18 years of age at the time of the event.
Wearing a mouthguard/gumshield is explicitly recommended. Participants who do not register with an entire team are very welcome and will be included into a team.
